Train Cancelled

We wanted to go to my appartment, 50miles away from Paris, by train, to clear the place for my brother to move in. We got to the train station and heavy rain was pouring.

Tour Montparnasse

Our train was cancelled because the wind knocked down a tree on the railroad track. We went back home.

Paris By Day

After our crazy adventure of roaming the Paris streets at night, Estelle spent the night at our place. We had planned to go out again, this time durng the day, and spend the afternoon taking pictures yet again.

Lunch at Republique.

Here we go!
We ended up doing the same tour as we did the night before. As I previously said, those are my favorite spots in Paris.

I was really excited when I took this picture, I thought it would look awesome and it's actually really meh. Worse, it's bad! It's over exposed.

It was such a beautiful day, so sunny, very cold and windy though but that doesn't show in pictures, good!

I could spend my time taking pictures of buildings. Imagining how people live their lives in those beautiful places.

Another beautiful day in Paris doing something I like with a person I love.

Night Stroll in Paris

A few weeks ago, my friend Estelle and I took a tour of Paris by night with a friend of hers who helped us take better pics. I have to admit I rarely use the manual mode on my cameras anymore. It's such a shame by the way. Anyway, let's not linger on the subject anymore, I feel so dumb about this.
Her friend, Sebastien, is planning on organizing tours of Paris with tourists, showing them around and teaching them a little about photography.
It was such a cool night! We walked around from 8pm to 1 o'clock, it was awesome! I don't even know where to begin, just seeing the pictures again is getting me all excited!!!

We hung aroung in my favorite places. I was afraid Estelle and I would be too chatty and not paying attention to what Sebastien might say but actually we were very quiet pupils, we paid attention! :p
Estelle got there with a headache and I just got out of an 8 hour day of work, 8 hours I spent standing on my feet the whole time. I was afraid I would be exhausted and not so thrilled about walking for miles in the cold but I did OK! Actually more than OK! Estelle always gives me so much energy. I didn't feel tired at all and we covered quite some ground.

All of the pictures above were taken with my digital camera and of course a (flimsy) tripod. It was very windy. Well, let's not find excuses, my pictures are far from perfect but I just had too much fun to really care. I'm just happy they're OK. I really did my best and hope to try again really soon.
If the digital pictures are OK, the film ones SUCK BIG TIME! I'm pretty sure the responsability is not all mine, my negative scanner doesn't like night pictures and the colors are awful (of course I could have touched up the pictures, I could have but I didn't).
Here there are... :/

Sebastien planned a break by the end of the 4hour tour, he gave us beautiful wine and saucisson on a bench in a tiny park by the Seine. How nice.
I'm planning on doing this again(the pictures by night, not the wine on the bench), probably all by myself and this time only with my film camera.
By the way, I'm jobless again, it kind of terrifies me but I find solace in the thought that I'll have a lot of time to myself again, time to draw, take more pictures, and sew. And spend more time with my family as well. This is a lot!

Making Crêpes, Saying Good Bye to an Old Friend

Crêpes! I too rarely make those!! But I have had this craving a couple of times these last few weeks, This is one of them.

With jam my mom brought us back from Scottland. Delicious!

After it caught fire, I finally had to say farewell to my faithfull blow dryer. I've had it for so long, something like 15years. So many memories of cosy times blow drying my hair and reading... So long my dear friend!! Your replacement doesn't hold a candle to you!

Care Package

My best friend Jess lives pretty far away from me. I live in Paris, she lives in Bretagne. I haven't seen her in almost a year. We text each other a lot but it's tough. I have had the best laughs with her (she even made me throw up once because she made me laugh so hard), we share so many interests and I miss crusing around with her in her car.

Last time I saw her I brought her a box of my favourite tea. Recently I discovered an another amazing flavor by the same brand and I wanted to share it with her, so I decided to make her a care package with a couple of tea boxes.

Then something happened. I read the Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson Mc Cullers. Most of our conversations with Jess revolve around books. I loved this book so much, I couldn't put it down, I wanted to share this with Jess as well, so I bought her a copy. I also made her a cushion, it was the perfect gifts for a cozy afternoon. Tea + good book + comfy pillow. I could just picture her reading with a hot cup of tea on her cofee table snuggled in a blanket, all comfortable and warm with her new pillow. But I kind of lost control...

I wrote her a letter, of course.

I thought it was kind of cheap to just send her a pillow, some tea and a book. So I decided to home make a few more presents. It was so fun! I made her a painting, a necklace, a scented mini cushion with bergamot essential oil and a pouch with random words in it so she could write stories with them (since she likes to write short stories in her spare time). I also bought a USB key to send her some of my favorite pictures, from me and artists.

That was fun and so comforting to send her all those things! I waited anxiously for the package to reach her. It was a heavy one, a little underneath 5kg!
She loved it. :) I can't wait for her to read The Heart is a Lonely Hunter so she can tell me what she thought!

On the way to the post office with my 5kg parcel that got my muscles sore the day after from carrying for half a mile.
