Little Heads

These last few days I've been working on these little heads. It's nice to do something different once in a while. I don't know what I'm going to do with those so far. I'm not sure they would sell, but I just want to make more. I love creating characters. Here are the latest ones.

This is The Chief. I had never used my hot glue gun this much before last week! I made the feather crown by gluing two bands of felt together with feathers in between. It got a little messy on top of the headband.

The Boxer.

This one is my favorite. I love the look in his eye and it was so much fun to paint him.

The Warrior.

This one has nothing to do with what I initially wanted to make. It was supposed to be an evil queen and she became a warrior. I love it when you make things and end up with a completely different design as the one you had in mind. It's like this llittle guy had a mind of her own.

Here is the preliminary sketch I made:

I messed up the eye make up and had to do something else. the evil Queen will have to wait. :)

 The Hooker

I'm really happy with how this one turned out. It took me ages to get the eyes the way they are. I wanted to make her wink. It's not that good but I like her attire. The hair is from a troll doll. I was about to throw it away and figured I could do something with it.
It was a real pain to implant the lashes. :p But I'm pretty glad about the nose. The noses I made so far are all pretty bad and look unfinished. This one looks quite natural. Yay!

Mama

Haaa! fabric! I've been using my sewing machine quite a lot lately.I made the hat with it. This little head is quite simple.

The Devil.

This one will be for my Grand Pa. I'll give it to him on Easter week end and hide it in the garden just like an egg. I can't wait to see his face opening the box. Every Easter he gets a chocolate animal that he keeps on his kitchen table for months until it's almost expired then he eats it reluctantly. It's like a little companion. This time he won't have to sacrifice his little friend. :)

Preliminary sketch for the Devil.

And I made another cushion. :) It's very different from the velvet ones I usually make with my bits and scraps of fabric and yarn. I made a pillow full of my sewing rejects and the patchwork thingy is actually a case. It's quite poorly made. It's full of flaws. I'll do better next time. Because it's true, practice makes perfect.
I'm also waiting on my Grand Pa to give me old shirts of his so I can make more pillows with them. I'll use them as cases.
The couch will soon be too small for all these cushions.

XOXO

A New Bag Of Clay

On Monday I had an appointement to get my passport renewed. Since I had to go out I decided to go shopping for craft supplies. So I went to Rougier et Plé near République.

I bought 20Ibs of clay. :) And a few tools and paint as you can see on the top picture.
Yesterday night I was home alone for a few hours and decided to sculpt a bit. I made four little heads in the same style as the ones I posted about the other day here.

The pictures are not so good but again, it's very dark in here at night. This one will be an indian chief with feathers all around his head. I really need to work on making better noses.

This one is my favorite of the night. I can't wait to paint it and add fabric and beads.

I wanted to experiment with white beads to make teeth. So here is the result, not very good. She looks like a prehistoric woman, but hey, it could be her style... Once again, her nose does not look good.

There was a fourth one but I forgot to take pictures of it. So I'll post them once it's painted.
Clay!!!

Here they are, drying out... Can't wait to start painting!!

Walks in Paris, Making Ravioli from Scratch and Other Things

These last three days I haven't been home much. I hung out with friends and also my mom.
On tuesday I was with my friend Koddou and we walked around in Saint Michel, up to the Luxembourg Gardens. Then on Wednesday with Damien we hung out by the Canal Saint Martin. And yesterday with my mom we walked down la Rue Du Commerce and then went as far as Bercy... what a long walk!

I was exhausted when I got home around 6:30pm. But I found the courage to put on Spongebob and cook for a while. I had an urge to make ravioli. Last summer I bought a pasta making machine and I hadn't used it ever since. I had a lonely leek in the fridge that has been left out when we made the leek salad last week, and a very old, almost antique, piece of goat cheese that had been sitting in the fridge for about a month, maybe two. Here was the stuffing...
The tv in the kitchen... Very important for me when I cook.

The ravioli were ugly as fuck but quite delicious! With salt pepper olive oil and grated cheese. I thought it would take me ages to make them but it only took me half an hour or so.
Don't mind the flour I have all over my face :) But this is the tunic I made a few days ago :)

I made pockets :)

This poor doll has been sitting by the window for weeks now.. I'm just so frustrated with it I don't think I'll ever finish it and I have been tempted to just throw it away...

Spooky!

Here is a new recipe I tried out. Lamingtons. It's an australian cake and it rocks!!
I made the fist batch with dark chocolate and they were pretty. Then I tried to make a batch with white chocolate with pink dye but the white chocolate doesn't have the same texture and it wouldn't stick properly to the cake. Those were good but ugly. :) I don't even have a picture of the pink ones.
They were gone fast.
