Re-use, Recycle Liquor Bottle Wrapping/Packaging

Today we went grocery shopping. Greg wanted a bottle of Vodka and the only ones they had at the store were all fancy and dressed up in these(see picture above :p). I don't like it when bottles are all dressed up. It just means more garbage in the end. And usually I buy the regular kind, without the pretty packaging.

So I tried to come up with something to do with it. I was pretty surprised because the whole thing was really pretty and quite good quality. I love the all 'engraving' look to it and the fur, of course, I love the green fake fur!

So I cut the stiches off the fur and got a nice band of fake fur all ready to go.

And I cut out all the pretty designs from the wrapping. Since I make brooches, I thought I could easily use those.

First I made a cuff bracelet with the fur. I've been wanting to do that for quite some time. A while ago my cat wrapped his tail around my wrist and I got the idea to make a black and white fake fur cuff for myself. I never did it.So this time it was the perfect opportunity to use this free fake fur. :p And I love the result! I used metal clasps on each end of the fur band.

Heeee! love it!

I just sewed the cut out designs on my brooches.Simple and easy. :)
So that's how I didn't throw away the whole thing and made the most out of it. But that's just one way!
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the packaging was to make a fake leather cuff bracelet, with lace, maybe fur.

I snapped these a couple of days ago in Paris. I love the style! Those are all over our neighbourhood.
Anyway, I just wanted to share. Since I am jobless now, I feel liberated. I feel like I have more time to look around and notice this kind of things.

I'll just go back to my wine now and enjoy the rest of the night. :p

Busy Week End! Paintings, Cushion Making, Party....

Last week I was elated, on Monday I got to see my friend Estelle and she brought me new canvases so I could make more paintings! I was pretty anxious to grab my pastels again since the picture above was my first custom order!
Then I made the following picture. I got my inspiration from stunning Elizabeth at Delightfully Tacky.
She has the most big beautiful curly hair!

I have 3 canvases remaining, I'll try to use them wisely! :)

I made a second cushion using all of my fabric and felt scraps, bits of yarn and thread... It feels good not to throw all of this away anymore! And have very comfy cushions for the couch!!

Here's what the inside of my pillow looks like. Messy uh? But it's way better in there than all over the apartment's floor! Where most of it used to be. I didn't collect it and a lot of scraps got everywhere! The place looks much cleaner now! ;)

Me enjoying the soft cushion :)

On staurday I've been to a party with my parents and my grand pa. It was fun, I danced with my mother just like when I was 8. :) And I got to spend some time with the sweetest person on Earth, my Grand Pa!
I had a little too much to drink and on Sunday I wasn't feeling that good. I slept most of the day trying to get rid of the migraine I had. It didn't work. What worked was 2 tablets of expired Ibuprophene...
We (my boyfriend and I ) spent Sunday at my apartment in Epernon. It's been almost a year and a half that I don't live there. I hate to see the place so desolated. It's such a nice apartment, full of light. I collected two suitcases of my stuff and we're back to Paris now. :)
I brought back the rest of my nail polishes.
Yay! :D

My poor kitty was feeling sick this week end, until he threw up on the bathroom carpet, then he was all better. I didn't feel too good either. Stomach aches and hangover all through the week end... We're all better now and ready to rock this new week starting today! :)

Craft Idea - Chopsticks Revisited Into Hairsticks

I wouldn't call this post a DIY because it's so easy I could cry, so I call it a craft idea :)
Lately we've been saving all the chopsticks that we get when we order sushi. Initially it was to stir the resin I make from time to time but we had quite a few on our hands.
I got my bangs a month and a half ago and I've been trying new hairstyles because of them. I'm getting to like my hair up now.
Besides yesterday I caved and got washi tape, I thought it was  a nice, fun and pretty way to upgrade these chopsticks.
So I used the chopsticks, washi tapes, nail polishes and charms.

The hairsticks in the making :) I love the idea of recycling something that should have been thrown away. Plus I 'really needed' hairsticks. Might as well be pretty, homemade, cheap and from recycled materials!! :d

Here is how they turned out:

Glittery goodness! ;) Now I need to order more sushi! :p

Three Things I'd Like to Try

Before starting this blog, I've been lurking around and I found very inspiring blogs. They gave me so many ideas! But for now, they all come down to three craft ideas I'd really like to try!

The First one is print making using rubber blocks that you carve yourself. I got the idea from the beautiful blog of Jen Hewett. Here are a few pictures of the beautiful blocks and  prints she makes.

In her blog Jen recommends using Speedy cut blocks to carve. You can find them on ebay in a variety of sizes.

But look how pretty these are!

The second thing I'd really like to try is crochetting with Zpagetti yarn!

And here's exactly what I'd like to do with it! Baskets to store all of my craft supplies that are all over the place.
I found a very nice shop on ALittlemarket selling those. But I'd much rather do it myself, the yarn looks so soft and nice to the touch!
Here are the basket from Tangerinette. Her pictures are so GOR-GEOUS by the way!

I also found an awesome tutorial to make those! By My Poppet .

It looks easy enough in the tutorial. :)

And finally the last thing I'd really love to get is a button making machine! I used to have one. It was a toy, nothing professionnal! But I've seen on ebay that they are selling the real thing! You can make different sizes of buttons but also pocket mirrors! I would love to turn my drawings into buttons and pocket mirrors!!

Something like that... :) I'll try to find my old toy machine when I go back home. It was so much fun making buttons! I love instant satisfaction :p
