Quilting

Since I got my sewing machine I try to make as many different things as I  can and I try to find new projects that I think will be fun.

So today I thought, what about quilting? I have so many different fabrics, some of them are 'old', I bought them 6 years ago when I started to collect blythe dolls and I wanted to make doll clothes. Some of them were a gift from my mom, sponsoring as she says, that she brought back from the USA. I thought it would be a great way to display all of the fabrics I own and keep track of them.

I did the quilt really fast, so it's not really even, but I like it anyways. I just wanted to see if quilting was hard. I don't know if I did it right but it was not that hard. It's really exciting to see all the pieces coming together and making a big piece :p

I don't know yet what I'll do with it but I'm just happy I gave it a try :p

I also made a bunch of felt portraits in frames. I'm quite happy with this one

It's the first time I make one with this style, I'll do it again! It was fun and I like how it turned out!

Now I'm off to make some soup, yay!

Hair cut and Textile Art

Yesterday, out of the blue I decided to cut my hair and give myself some bangs.
I've been wanting to do that for so long and never worked up the courage. I was so afraid to mess it up but it turned out ok :)

And today I made a bunch of textile portraits in frames to add to my shop :)

Here's a couple of random pictures, one of the rag doll I made the other day on a plastic stork at my mom's and the other one of my pretty kitty :p

Rag Dolls

Yesterday I made rag dolls...
A great way to use all of your fabric and felt scraps, bits of yarn that you could throw away and you could use to stuff a doll instead.

The one with the button eyes is a little scary I admit... But since she's the first one I made, I like her :p

I also made a big fat cushion with all the rejects of my intempestive sewing :) It's so comfy!! I can't wait to make another one! So in the meantime I collect all of these bits and pieces of soft materials...

Here is a great tutorial to make the dolls:

I'm not a big fan of patterns, so I didn't actually use the ones given in the tutorial, but the dolls turned out ok :p
I guess I'm not patient enough to follow actual patterns. I made somme really quickly, I couldn't wait to see my doll come to life :)
But the makeit loveit diy is really great to follow step by step!! ;)

Very First Post

There are a few reasons why I wanted to start this blog...

The first one is that I recently started sewing with a sewing machine, I want to keep track of my progress. Today it's been a little more than a month that i started, I made a bunch of pillow cases, two handbags, a cover for my sewing machine with a neat hole for the handle, tons of make up pouches, ipad cases.... Well, I made a bunch of stuff :)

Most of the blogs I've seen, the girls writing them are sewing experts, I'm clearly not, and that's what I would have wanted to see, failures :p Sewing with a machine is so hard to me, and it takes so much patience and experimentation!

Another reason why I'm starting this blog is to practice my English :p And that would be so cool to meet English-speaking people around the world :)

The last reason, and the most important, I think this one will decide the future of this blog, if everything goes well; I could move in a house in a few weeks/months, the house of my dreams, and I'd like to document that. :)

It's an old house, it used to be my Great Grand Mother's, it's in my home town, near my family. Currently I live in a tiny appartment in Paris with my boyfriend. I sew A LOT, I make felt accessories and jewelry, and this place is cramped! With all my felt, fabrics etc. It's just too small. And also I miss having a garden and nature all around.

It's not a sure thing that we get the house, I'm really nervous about it because this would be my dream life to live there! Plus I would have my own sewing studio, the house is big enough!!

By the way, my name is Claire, I'm 29, I own a cutie pie of a cat named Hopi, I love making stuff....

Here are a few of the things I've made since I have my sewing machine

Here are the brooches I make... I started to make them 2 and a 1/2 years ago and I sell them here:

They are all hand sewn :) That's just a very small example, I've made more than a thousand...

And this is my cat, Hopi, he will be two on May 1st :) He makes me melt!!!!

This is it for my very first post :)
