Auvergne with my Grand Pa

We spent most of our stay on the campground of Volvic.
It was nice and clean and empty as well. Most of the time there were only two caravans, ours and the one of a young couple with a kid. That suits me fine, I'm not a big fan of crowded places anyway :p
Who is, really.

Film accident. It happened to me once with my old camera. Turned out I had scanned two negatives on top of one another. Not this time, the film came back like this from the lab.

Happy camper

My cake was the pig, of course. The other two were my Grand Pa's, because one is not enough. :)

I adore cheese and Auvergne is an awesome place if you're a cheese lover. Cantal was absolutely delicious.

Part of my travelling resolution. Knit socks while on a trip that I knit from yarn bought on said trip. So I have a special souvenir. On this trip, I knit 4 pairs.

Green in Auvergne

Another obsession of mine during this trip was plants! Especially potted plants on balconies or window sills.
This year my window sill in Paris is completly bursting at the seams with plants. And I love looking at other people's endeavours.

Look at this house!!

I took cuttings of a honeysuckle bush on the camping grounds.
So far, almost a month later, they are still alive.

A walk in the park in the rain

Loved the colors.

Grandeur and Decay in Auvergne

I got pretty obsessed with shooting buildings and houses during this trip. So many buildings have these Art Deco/Art Nouveau touches. Auvergne is full of thermal towns, they were very popular during the 1910's/1920's, hence the Art Deco/Art Nouveau.
Can you spot the kitten on the picture above? That's actually why I took the pic. This and this absolutely gorgeous blue window.

I liked this house and the vegetable garden that was in front of it.

The entrance to this hotel was beautiful but the hotel was closed, possibly for good.

We had a giggle at the name of this one, especially since the town was pretty deserted and lots of shops were out of business and desolate. It was a nervous giggle more than anything.

Clermont Ferrand Cathedrale.

Beautiful balconies.

This huge hotel was left to rot. It was in the town of La Bourboule. You could see the sky through the top windows because the roof had completly collapsed.

I loved this house! Everything about it!

My pictures don't do this beautiful villa justice.
You can look up 'Villa Lise Clermont Ferrand' on Google and find much better pictures. You can also find it on Google streetview. It's pretty impressive and crazy looking.

Auvergne - Landscapes

We have seen some pretty beautiful landscapes in Auvergne. It's a beautiful place with lots of greenery, mountains and old dormant volcanoes.

Lots of roman churches.

Church hidden in the trees.

Old Castle.
