Family Photos

Sorting out my Grand Parents'stuff, my mom found a few boxes of negatives. Here are my favorite pictures from the lot. They are mostly of my Grand Mother. She was so classy. For me, she really represents the true parisian woman of her time.
She was smart, educated and oh so elegant! She had an important job in a big company and she used to manage quite a lot of people.
She lived in Paris, she loved the museums, shopping and having a cup of coffee in little cafés.
She died about six years ago after being sick and bedridden for quite a while.

My dad. So chubby and cute.

My Grand Mother, third from the left.

Pin Up style.
From the five boxes of negatives, there was only a handful of pictures of scenaries. All the other pictures were of people. Which is so much better. :)

My Grand Father in the hay.

Busload of people. I have no idea who they are.

I love the portraits my Grand Father took of her. His pictures are good and holy cow, she can pose!

My Dad (with the scarf on his head) and his cousins I guess.

Grand Mother.

I don't know who this is but the picture is awesome.

same thing.

My Dad.

No clue who they are. I just like the picture.

My Grand Parents'scooter gang.

What a wonderful picture of my Dad and his mom! I guess this picture was taken in 1952.

Last Roll for a While, and Not the Best One

Ok, these pictures suck, and I didn't clean my scanner, and I had a problem rewinding the roll so I opened the camera and the roll was exposed to light hence all the blue streaks and white spots on some pics.
Plus I was not inspired at all. It explains why technicalities set aside, the pictures still suck.

It might be the last roll for a while since I'll be gone for two months. I have another roll to pick up from the lab but I'm not sure I'll have the time to scan it and load it here and I don't even know if it's any good. Well, it's obvious that even if the pictures are bad I'll still put them here since I'm putting those.
I'll shut up now.

I'll try and do better next time. :p

Olympus OM2 Test Roll

Not the most flattering picture of myself.
Anyway, after finding the Canonet at my grand father's I found the Olympus OM2. Which was perfect timing since my Canon A1 broke at this exact time.
It's not as easy to use as the Canon but it will do. Besides, I spent 10 years using the Canon, so I just can't switch that easily.

My favorite place in the world right now. My reading nook by the window. And yes, I'm writing this post in this spot.

Turn on a blow dryer and he falls asleep in a second. I'm not emphasizing.

Verbena.

Rather disappointed by this Murakami (Wild Sheep Chase).

Finally a picture where he is awake.

Handsome man. That's what he wore for my birthday in the heart of june.

I'm not 5, I'm 32. :p

My brother made me this awesome Kinder birthday cake. I'm still working on eating all the chocolate. I had to leave most of it at my Grand Pa's so I wouldn't eat everything in a few sittings. I bring back a handful everytime I visit. I'm groing up and becoming reasonnable.

Piles everywhere. Since I can't seem to find a good bookshelf.

I'm pretty happy about this camera. From now on it will replace my Canon. I don't really have a choice but I'm quite glad. I might buy a new Canon body someday. If I can't get over  it.

But Olympus OM2 = going to Toronto, and Bretagne, and Memphis. That's for sure.

Canonet QL17 Test Roll

Going through my grand father's stuff, I stumbled upon a bunch of analog cameras, including the Canonet QL17. It's a compact little camera and quite popular right now.
I took it for a test roll on a walk through Paris. I had only taken a bunch of pictures at home and took it to Saint Michel where I was planning to go book shopping. It was working perfectly up to this point.
But in the bookshop my tote bag tore apart and the Canonet fell to the ground right on the lens in a loud crash. Good thing I was crouching, it didn't fall from very high. But the little needle indicating what setting you should use according to the lighting broke on the spot. It's not moving anymore. The camera still technically works but I don't know what precise setting to pick for each picture.
Anyway, point is, it still works. That's a relief. Because 24hours in my hand and it was already damaged.

I like this camera because it has a self timer. I still need to get used to it and practice, it could become a fun little camera to shove in my purse on a daily basis.

I did a terrible job at scanning the pictures, all I can see is the black line on each one of them. I should probably edit them, but no, I'll just complain about my shitty work. :p

Because of heavy rains, the Seine flooded. It was quite impressive.

This structure is brandnew. It is the new Les Halles. It's quite beautiful and very pleasant. It's the same as before in the sense that there is a lot of shops, restaurants, cafés etc but it's cleaner and surely more impressive.

Tiny pumpkin. Now the plant is huge and it gave us beautiful flowers. But no baby pumpkin. All the flowers withered and left nothing.

I think I'll bring the Canonet to Toronto, to try my hand at it.
