Between the Tombstones

I finally gathered the nerve to take my camera and do a little self portrait session outside in 'public'. I chose to go to the Père Lachaise cemetary figuring there wouldn't be too much people around and a lot of secluded spots where I wouldn't be caught taking pictures of my own silly self. Because yes, it's kind of embarassing. But it's fun, it's like an act or like painting a picture. Trying to convey or express something through a picture of yourself.
Well, I'll stop justifying myself now.

Dead flowers for dead people.

A cemetary is not the happiest place to take pictures, especially self portraits. But I love this place, it's quiet and beautiful and there is always a lot of people walking around there. It's almost like a park. It's not as gloomy as most cemetaries.

I still couldn't get myself to smile on the pictures. I felt it was inappropriate. So I just look sullen. Meh...

 All the beautiful romantic statues!!

Life on Film

I bought jeans, I think they are too big for me. :)

Reading on the bed.

Got bored and played with make up.

Since all my plants died over the vacation I bought a  verbena plant. I started making tea with it and it was so good, the plant looks nothing like this anymore. It almost leafless now :/

Flattening my hair.

My grand pa pretending to enjoy a dish of rabbit my mom made. It was not very good.

Bubbles.

My Dad's birthday.

A gift for my mom.

Waiting to be collected by garbage men.

Every year there is an electronic item I'm very happy I purchased. There was my tablet, my camera and this year the winner is this little negative scanner. I had so many rolls of film I had to get processed over the summer, it would have cost me a fortune to get them all printed on paper. So I decided to buy a negative scanner and I'm so happy I did! After I scanned the first 6 rolls I had my money's worth. And I scanned another 12 rolls after that. It's super easy to use and not that expansive(65€). Here it is.

Last day in Portland + Back Home

For once I didn't want to go home. I'm always happy at the end of a trip to come home and live in my little world again. This time I would have gladly spent another month there in Portland. And it's weird because I didn't even enjoy the city that much.

This is the apartment we stayed at. It was awesome with everything we could possibly need and it was brand new.

During the trip Greg got in touch with a guy he hadn't seen in 25 years. We met him a couple of days before leaving and we had such a great time with him we decided to spend our last night with him and his family. I shot the picture above in his backyard.

I finally read Ghost World. Started it at the airport, finished it on the plane.

The friendly skies. I cannot wait to go on a trip again. The list of the places I want to visit is getting bigger by the minute.

Back home. A big mess of luggage and dirty laundry.

Of course my plants died while I was away. They were soon replaced.

Back to our beloved routine.

My pile of to-read books. This sight makes me so happy!
I still have a bunch of books I bought last year in Chicago that I haven't read yet.

I shot 11rolls in Portland. :)
I wasn't feeling very inspired on the spot, but I'm pretty happy with how the pictures turn out. Mostly because they are memories of the great times we had.
See more here.
