Commission Paintings

How exciting!
A sweet lady asked me for two custom pastel drawings! I did one for her a few weeks ago and now she wants two more!

Here they are! The two Geishas I did! :) I hope she likes them.

And here is the first one I made for her about a month ago.
I also got a message today of another lady who wants me to do a beaver painting! I hope it will work out because I would love to do that.
You can find all of my paintings here.

Craft Idea - Chopsticks Revisited Into Hairsticks

I wouldn't call this post a DIY because it's so easy I could cry, so I call it a craft idea :)
Lately we've been saving all the chopsticks that we get when we order sushi. Initially it was to stir the resin I make from time to time but we had quite a few on our hands.
I got my bangs a month and a half ago and I've been trying new hairstyles because of them. I'm getting to like my hair up now.
Besides yesterday I caved and got washi tape, I thought it was  a nice, fun and pretty way to upgrade these chopsticks.
So I used the chopsticks, washi tapes, nail polishes and charms.

The hairsticks in the making :) I love the idea of recycling something that should have been thrown away. Plus I 'really needed' hairsticks. Might as well be pretty, homemade, cheap and from recycled materials!! :d

Here is how they turned out:

Glittery goodness! ;) Now I need to order more sushi! :p

L'Arbre Orange, Getting Inspired, and Cheese Puffs

Today I've been getting brooches ready (40 pieces) to send out to a Bourges shop. I'm very excited! The lady managing the shop is very nice and her ethics are the same as mine! We both want the prices as affordable as possible! Everybody should be able to afford handmade things.
I hope she'll like my brooches. Here is the flyer of her shop.

Lately I've been trying to use the supplies I already own instead of buying new ones all the time. It's hard to work with things you had lying around for a while. They are not as inspiring.
I came accross this illustration I don't remember where and it really struck me.

So I decided to pick beads and try to work out a design from them. For example I had these that somebody gave to me. They are not beads I would have bought for myself but since I have them, why not do something with them?

They inspired me a portrait brooch of course. Since they have fire on them, I thought of a Rock and Roll chick with leopard print clothes. Here's the result:

Same thing with these. I think these beads are really pretty but I never use them.

So here's what I did with them.

It's very satisfying to take some old stuff and get inspired. And it's pretty interesting to work out a design around it.

I've also been cooking and I tried my hand at 'gougères'. They are little cheese puffs. They are delicious and very fun to make!

Mine look like poop but they were yummy none the less. :)
I found the recipe here.

That's it for today. I have so many ideas and so much stuff to do!!! :D I'd better be going! ;)

Day 25 - Tea and Stars

I'm very happy with my drawing for day 25. :)

I found a great blog with very inspiring pictures the other day, and one of the pictures inspired me this drawing. :)
The blog is Marguerite Gisele. And here is the original picture:

I love getting inspired by pictures over the internet! It's not the first time it happened to me recently. I stumbled upon this picture by Love Elycia :

And did this:

It's fun to do and the result is always so different from the picture. I should do that more often. :)

Now, it's cutie pie time :)

Day 18 - The Nice Couple, and Sewing Open Eyes

I'm a little behind on the schedule for this drawing since I did it a few days ago but here it is!

Today I decided to only make portrait brooches with girls with their eyes open. :)

And I snapped a few pictures of all the brooches I made the last 3 days :) Thank God my assistant was by my side! :)

So colorful! :)

Let's skip to the random and gross section of this post! Yesterday I was making soup and I burned myself! :o It hurt like hell the very first seconds, now it's very ok but it looks really gross! :)

The bottom blister is now ten times bigger than it was on the picture!
That's all :)

Three Things I'd Like to Try

Before starting this blog, I've been lurking around and I found very inspiring blogs. They gave me so many ideas! But for now, they all come down to three craft ideas I'd really like to try!

The First one is print making using rubber blocks that you carve yourself. I got the idea from the beautiful blog of Jen Hewett. Here are a few pictures of the beautiful blocks and  prints she makes.

In her blog Jen recommends using Speedy cut blocks to carve. You can find them on ebay in a variety of sizes.

But look how pretty these are!

The second thing I'd really like to try is crochetting with Zpagetti yarn!

And here's exactly what I'd like to do with it! Baskets to store all of my craft supplies that are all over the place.
I found a very nice shop on ALittlemarket selling those. But I'd much rather do it myself, the yarn looks so soft and nice to the touch!
Here are the basket from Tangerinette. Her pictures are so GOR-GEOUS by the way!

I also found an awesome tutorial to make those! By My Poppet .

It looks easy enough in the tutorial. :)

And finally the last thing I'd really love to get is a button making machine! I used to have one. It was a toy, nothing professionnal! But I've seen on ebay that they are selling the real thing! You can make different sizes of buttons but also pocket mirrors! I would love to turn my drawings into buttons and pocket mirrors!!

Something like that... :) I'll try to find my old toy machine when I go back home. It was so much fun making buttons! I love instant satisfaction :p
